Farewell To Mike H

Today we said bid farewell to Mike Hanmer. Mike H, as we knew him, had been 3 Royal Horse Artillery, seconded from Kenya to Aden, in support of 45 Commando, and other units, during operations 'Up country' in 1962/3. He had a close affection for the infamous 25 pounder and often boasted as a ‘Gunner’ trained to drive Centurions.

Mike sadly, passed suddenly and unexpectedly, in December. He will be missed by all who knew him, along with his treasured desert hat which he wore everywhere!

He will be remembered as independent, courageous, and determined in all he did. Also as a proud veteran Gunner, with a great personality.

RIP Mike.
